SIA Updates Close Protection Qualification

The SIA has introduced an updated close protection qualification for new applicants in the sector enhancing the previous qualification with four new units

• bespoke physical intervention skills
• knowledge of door supervisor responsibilities (including protecting vulnerable people)
• legislation, threat and risk management
• personal skills, surveillance awareness, search procedures, foot drills, venue security, journey management reconnaissance and preparing and carrying out a close protection assignment

Top up training will be available from 1st July 2022, and becomes mandatory on licence renewals from 1st October 2022.
